第50条 公用語および作業言語 ―Article 50 Official and working languages

 ① 本裁判所の公用語は、アラビア語、中国語、英語、フランス語、ロシア語およびスペイン語とする。本裁判所の判決および本裁判所に係属する基本的な問題を解決するその他の決定は、公用語で刊行されなければならない。統括部は、手続および証拠の規則に定める基準に従って、本項の目的に関して、いかなる決定が基本的な問題を解決するものとみなされるかを定める。
 ② 本裁判所の作業言語は、英語およびフランス語とする。手続および証拠の規則は、その他いかなる公用語を作業言語として使用することができるかを定める。
 ③ 手続の当事者または手続に関与することが認められた国の請求に基づき、本裁判所は、その当事者または国が英語またはフランス語以外の言語を使用することを許可する。ただし、本裁判所がこの許可を十分根拠があるものとみなす場合に限る。

1. The official languages of the Court shall be Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. The judgements of the Court, as well as other decisions resolving fundamental issues before the Court, shall be published in the official languages. The Presidency shall, in accordance with the criteria established by the Rules of Procedure and Evidence, determine which decisions may be considered as resolving fundamental issues for the purposes of this paragraph.

2. The working languages of the Court shall be English and French. The Rules of Procedure and Evidence shall determine the cases in which other official languages may be used as working languages.

3. At the request of any party to a proceeding or a State allowed to intervene in a proceeding, the Court shall authorize a language other than English or French to be used by such a party or State, provided that the Court considers such authorization to be adequately justified.
